About pay

What you need to know

If you think you have been paid incorrectly, please speak to your Unit HR Admin in the first instance.

It is important that you have read and understood JSP 754 Tri-Service Regulations for Pay before proceeding.

The following are common reasons why your pay may be incorrect:

Basic pay arrears could be as a result of:

  • absence
  • flexible service
  • part-time working
  • rank
  • increment level
  • incremental base date (IBD)
  • start or end dates of employment

If your Unit HR Admin is unsure of the reason they can raise an iSupport for further investigation or you can raise an iSupport or contact the Enquiry Centre for assistance.

If you have queries surrounding your tax code you will need to contact HMRC on 0300 200 300.

Have your deductions changed? If your gross pay is higher you may pay higher contributions such as tax, national insurance or pension contributions. Other deductions may also account for changes in your salary, such as voluntary deductions or student loan contributions.

Please refer to the Pay deadlines page for further information.
