The DBS UK Military Personnel Portal has been created and designed to:
allow users to self service and have information that is only a few clicks away
be intuitive enough to be use without the need for training
provide information tiles grouped by category
offer quick access to popular pages
save time and effort on the telephone to find information now easily at hand
Overview of the home page
The static bar at the top of the site means that these features remain the same no matter which website page you are on. It comprises of:
home icon in the top left hand corner which you can click at any time to navigate back to this page
climate friendly switcher - need content
'Contact Us' link where you can find out the contact details of the teams to help answer your queries
the search icon on the top bar can be used on any page to perform a keyword search of Portal content
in the top right hand corner there is a three bar menu revealing a larger menu where you can drill down subject areas to see what content is held under each section
As well as the search in the static header, there is a large white search bar on the homepage where you can enter key words relating to your query. As you type, a large menu of options based on what you’re typing will pop out allowing you to select one.
If what you want does not appear press the Search button on the search bar or press enter to reveal full search results. The search results will tell you the name of the Portal page where you can click to reveal the content.
There is a search filter where you can select a specific area based on category to refine your search.
The Explore by Category section provides another way of finding the information you are looking for. Click into these large tiles on the homepage to drill down into the specific area you need.
The Popular Pages section allows you to see information that is popular and provides another way to find the content you need.
At the bottom of every page on the Portal is the “Did you find this page useful” prompt where you can leave feedback by selecting the 'thumbs up' or 'thumbs down' icon. There is a free text box where you can leave a comment explaining why you like or dislike the page.
