What you need to know
Northern Ireland Motor Insurance Refunds is available to Regular Service personnel, Full Time Reserve Service (Full Commitment) and (Limited Commitment) and Additional Duties Commitment personnel who are serving on the strength (this is when you are permanently assigned or posted to a unit that is based in Northern Ireland) of a resident unit within Northern Ireland, while you are resident in Northern Ireland.
It is important that you have read and understood JSP 752 Tri-Service Regulations for Expenses and Allowances (chapter 14, section 4) before proceeding.
This allowance is not for Service personnel who have been locally recruited and are normally resident in Northern Ireland.
You’ll receive the actual difference in cost between insuring the same vehicle in the highest car insurance area in the UK (currently Central London) and insuring it in Northern Ireland.
This will be paid into your nominated bank account.
What you need to do
- Obtain a written quote from the same insurance company or broker, stating the difference between insuring your vehicle in Central London and Northern Ireland
- Make an iExpenses claim via JPA - unsure which self -service guide to use - is it this one - IN506016 Insurance Expense and of so what does the SP select from LOV?
